Answers before you ask

What counts as a sensor?+
The licensing options are based on the total number of sensors (not the number of devices or IPs). We define a sensor as one aspect you monitor on a device. For example, one sensor can monitor:
  • a specific URL,
  • the traffic of a network connection,
  • a port on a switch,
  • or the CPU load on a machine.
Please refer to the list of supported sensor types—each item in this list counts as one sensor. Each sensor also has individual channels, where the measured or calculated data is displayed. For example, an SNMP Traffic Sensor shows 'traffic in', 'traffic out', and 'traffic total' in three separate sensor channels.

To get a better understanding, please review the object hierarchy.

Typically, there are between 5 and 10 sensors per device, but this depends on what you need to monitor. If you find you need a license with more sensors later, you can easily upgrade by paying the price difference.
Does Monitorink support reporting?+
Monitorink can generate and store daily, weekly, monthly, or annual reports for selected sensors. You can choose to receive reports via email as PDFs, or have them stored on your hard drive. You can also run reports interactively in your web browser (in HTML format). Reports can be generated on a schedule, for example every Monday. Various templates are available, including different data tables and graph options. Please refer to the Monitorink features and manual for details.
Does Monitorink support notifications and alarms?+
Monitorink offers several notification options, including sending emails or SMS, starting executable files, sending SYSLOG messages, playing notification sounds, or adding entries to the Windows Event Log, among others. It also supports free push notifications to Android and iOS devices! In addition, you can schedule notifications, so you (or your team) aren’t disturbed outside working hours for lower-priority issues. You can set numerous conditions for notifications, not only when a sensor is down, but also for situations such as increased traffic on an interface over a specific duration, and much more.
